Objective: The main objective of this project is to design, develop, and test a regenerative braking system that captures and stores energy during braking in a hybrid vehicle. The system aims to improve overall energy efficiency and reduce the reliance on traditional friction braking.

Components and System Overview:

  1. Electric Motor/Generator: Integrate an electric motor/generator into the braking system. This component will act as a generator during braking, converting kinetic energy into electrical energy.
  2. Energy Storage System: Implement a storage system (battery or capacitor) to store the electrical energy generated during braking. The storage system should be able to efficiently capture and release energy.
  3. Control System: Develop a control algorithm to seamlessly transition between traditional friction braking and regenerative braking. The control system should optimize energy recovery and distribution between the braking components.
  4. Mechanical Integration: Ensure seamless integration of the regenerative braking system with the existing vehicle braking system. Design components that can withstand the mechanical stresses associated with braking.
